It's Hockey Time

Matt is having fun playing hockey this year. He plays defense about half the time and forward the other half. Here are a series of photos from a tournament in Princeton BC.

Matt is red #20.

Matt is red, center.

Matt is red, center, behind the ref for a face off.

Matt is red, center right, on his way to scoring a goal in this series of 3 photos.

He shoots.

And the puck goes in!

Matt is red center right. He's fighting to get the puck in this series of 4 photos.

I like this photo. The entire opponents team is surrounding Matt, trying to get the puck away from him.

Here's Matt, white #20, with a buddy, messing around with a puck while waiting for the awards ceremony.

The Chief won the tournament!

The public schools system  that Matt and Kyra go to offer an awesome cross country program in the fall for 1-6 grade. Kyra, in kindergarten was able to participate because her older brother was running.

The kiddos had a blast. They love to run. They had 2 zonal races with other schools in their area. Then, if they qualified, they ran All-City - where all kiddos within a certain time for their race, compete. It's thousands of kids and lots of fun.

Here are some photos of this season. They did great and had fun!

Their legs were too tired to walk to the car after the first rae! good thing dad can do piggy-backs!

Matt and Kyra with a good buddy.

I love this picture of Matt racing along the 1 mile course through the trees.

Here is Kyra at All-City. She is running with first graders - they are about a head taller than her.

Here's Matt at the start of the fourth grade boys at All City. He is center left in the bright green shirt.

Soccer Season

This fall both Kyra and Matt played soccer. Kyra's team was the Flash, although she really wanted them to be called the Snowleapards. Matt's team was the Scotties. Both had a great season and are looking forward to spring soccer.

Kyra white jersey #4, going in for the goal. With little kid soccer there are 3 on the field at a time and no keeper.

Kyra going for the block.

Kyra stealing the ball.

Matt's team is white, he's #20. This is a 2 photo sequence. Matt is center left and the boy with a black jersey  is pushing him in the back.  Matt kicks the ball, it bounces off a defensman and Matt scores the goal. The next photo is Matt cheering, he's white jersey on the left.

Matt is blue jersey #20 on the right. He's kicking the ball to score a goal.

And the ball goes in!

Matt plays keeper, mid-fielder or forward. Kyra plays the whole field, since it's kindergarten soccer. They are doing great and having fun!

Bday Time

Matt wanted to have an epic battle for his birthday. So, the kiddos made their own marshmallow guns out of PVC pipes. Then we went down to the river and ran through the pine forest.

epic trip to alaska

Curt has summers off now that he's working for an elementary school. So, he and the kids spent a month up in AK visiting family and exploring.

Curt's best friend growing up, Kurt K, and his wife spend several weeks each summer at fish Camp on the Kenai river. Curt, Matt and Kyra were invited to come visit for several days. They had a blast. Matt fly-fished, Kyra beach combed for shells, and Curt got to reconnect with old friends.

Eskimo olympics in Fairbanks. Matt and Kyra were very excited to get to visit the competition. Look center photo there is a man in the air from the blanket toss. He has on an orange and yellow shirt.

Kyra and Matt playing in the children's garden at the University of Fairbanks.

Shooting old guns with Uncle Bob in Fairbanks.

Hanging out with the sled dogs in Denali National Park

Hiking to the waterfalls in Eagle River.

Hiking with cousins. Curt has two of his brothers still living in Alaska. Matt and Kyra loved hanging out with their cousins!

Hatchers pass, and old gold mine. This is one of the Chambers Family favorite places to visit!

Matt, Kyra and cousin Keeyan.

What a great photo!

On the ferry to Cordova to go meet Margee.

Cordova - this town exits to process seafood caught in the Copper River and the Gulf. You can only reach it by boat or plane. Margee took a long weekend from work and flew from Spokane to Cordova to have a family holiday. Know for lots of rain, we mostly had beautiful sunny sky's.

sheridan glacier was a quick mile or so hike to get to.

Copper river - the delta is HUGE!

Beautiful mountains - the back drop to one of our fishing expeditions.
