Bath and Bear Towel

Kyra has a very favorite bath towel the hood of it is a bear - it even has a tail and paws.

Camping on Lake Pend Orielle

We went to see Keb Mo and the Spokane Youth Symphony at the Festival at Sandpoint, and went camping too. At the festival, the kids got to ride ponies. Wheeeee! We have some hockey friends that live in Sandpoint - so we spent a day at the beach with them. Fun weekend - we were absolutely exhausted!

Playing around this summer

4th of July Weekend

It was kind of a drizzly weekend. We hung out and did yard work and as you see, kyra really got into digging in the dirt. We got to do a few fun things, like hiking in Riverside State Park. Unfortunately, Kyra hurt her right hip this weekend, and wouldn't walk for a couple of days, and then limped for a couple of weeks. Even after xrays and ultra sounds there was no significant trauma to be seen - so we had to wait and let it heal. Thankfully about a month later - she was a good as new, and a fast little runner.

Homemade berry yogurt popsicles

One of Kyra's favorite summertime treats is homemade berry popsicles. They are good and very messy.

Grand Coulee Dam

Matthew has been interested in dam's and how they work. So, we took a daytrip out to tour Grand Coulee Dam and then go swim in the huge lake that the dam creates. On a side note, one of Matt's favorite songs by Woody Guthrey is about Grand Coulee Dam - Roll on Columbia. Unfortunately, we didn't get very good pictures. But it was amazing to tour power house 3 (in the picture). It takes 2 years for staff to rebuild a turbine. They are huge. The tunnels that funnel the water to the turbines is as wide as 3 greyhound buses parked side by side. The whole thing is an amazing piece of engineering.

Flowers

Kyra likes our flower pots.

Thunderbirds

The Thunderbirds came to town and we went out for the air show. It was way cooler that I would have ever guessed. Matt and Kyra had a great time - even though it had to be at least 100 degrees out on that tarmack. Trick was to find shade.

Summer 3 on 3

Matt in action.

Score! Yeah - group hug. They do this every time someone scores.

Matt participating in a summertime 3 on 3 hockey league and loved it. He always has a huge smile when he's out there on the ice.
