Cello

For years Matthew has been wanting to play the cello. Curt and I were at the symphony one evening, and sat next to the principal cellist.. We asked when was the best time for children to learn strings - he said typically between 6-8 years old.

So, Matt's taking cello lessons this summer. One week into it and he (and his sister) are having a great time!

Fathers Day 2013

Curt invited a good friend and his son over for a BBQ. The kids (and dads) had a great time.

Author's Tea

At the end of every school year, Holmes students publish books, then invite their parents to tea, and show off all of their great stories.

chicago

Margee got to make a real quick trip to Chicago for work. While there, she was able to spend a few short hours with some dear friends of Curt from his Colorado days.

Diane with her daughter in law Wendy and granddaughter Lily. We're eating some yummy Chicago Dogs.

Lily is serving up some food in the totally awesome playhouse.

Then Jess, Dianes son, came to join us. They are quite the happy family.

Had about a hour to spend at the Art Institute of Chicago. Great stuff!

It's always nice to see Budda in a big city.

Quite a view for a marina.. It sure would be fun to sail Lake Michigan!

mothers day 2013

We trekked on over to Manito Park for our annual mothers day picnic. Play on the playground, then hike through the park to check out the lilac gardens.

Margee and Matt ran Bloomsday together. Matt's PR was 1:15:04.

Playing in the sprinkler.

Boat work

We had the boat pulled to do some repair work on the hull and get a new coat of paint on the bottom.

Then we went to Farragut Park for a hike and  playing in the water.

Here's the boat a month later wtih new bottom paint and a nice wax job. Next we work on the rigging. Hopefully the boat is ready to sail by the time schools out.

Spring in Spokane

Every year I take photos of the kiddos by some spring flowers somewhere in the yard.
