It's that 9-month old thing - they want to feed themselves. Kyra just started refusing to be fed, she's happy feeding herself, and NO help! Some soy yogurt, tofu and split pea soup. Yummy!

Wrestling time...
Friday is family game night at our home. Nothing better than sitting in front of the fire, drinking tea and playing board games. But this time, game night started with a major wrestling session with Curt, Matthew and Kyra. Looks like Kyra is queen of the mountain.
All that wrestling made Kyra a little hungry. She's checking out what's in the fridge.

Some Holiday Fun
We took the family to see the broadway show The Lion King. Then a couple days later went to a tree lighting at the Davenport.
Getting into things....and 9-month check-up
Kyra's been mobile since about 5 months - rolling where she needed to go. Then the army crawl. At 9 months it's a fast army-ish crawl. She's on her knees but still using forearms instead of hands. And she's pulling herself up on her knees or to standing. Here's some fun pictures of her getting into Matthew's train set. She's sooooooo proud of herself.
At the 9-month checkup the other day - it's official, she is petite. Weighing in at 15 pounds 6 oz it puts her under the 5th percentile for weight. But she's 30th percetile for height. So, maybe she'll be long and lean. If so, she'll appreciate that as an adult.

Preschool Visit to a Farm
Matthew and some of his friends from the co-op preschool had a field trip to a farm out on Greenbluff. It was a cold, cold morning, but the kids seemed to have fun. There was a hay ride, corn maze, pumpkin patch and more!

Ice Skatin' Fool
Matthew wants to play hockey - but ya got to learn to skate first. He's having a blast skating really fast in class.

We cut out felt shapes and glued them onto our winter squash to make jack'o'laterns, but ones we can eat when were ready for it.
Darth Vadar Watch Out - Matthew Won Kenobi is Here!
Matt's 5th birthday party was a blast. He wanted a Star Wars party - so we made a Death Star Pinata, turned our backyard into the rebel base on the planet Hoth, played Star Wars music on the stereo and everyone got to choose which charachter they wanted, and wore that necklace. Funny thing, Matthew chose to be Yoda for his birthday. Yoda was Curt's nickname when he worked for the Forest Service.

Bike Races
Group Health sponsors a kids bike race series in September. Matt's participated the last two years, and loves it. Every kid gets a blue ribbon.

Labor Day Weekend in Seattle
Went to the Museum of Flight - one of Matt's favorite places, and a good place to go on a very rainy day.

A friend from Tasmania (Margee's been friends with her since preschool) was visiting family over the holiday weekend. We had a chance to visit her (a picnic at Crossroads Park), along with other friends, see Uncle Marty and see some of the big city sites.
