Longbeach Getaway
Since Margee was going back to work soon, and wouldn't have much vacation time, we decided to take a trip to the coast. We drove to Vancouver and stayed at Margee's cousins house for the night. Then when to OMSI in Portland, and drove to Longbeach. We hiked and played on the beach for a week, with a couple of road trips in between. We took a long drive down the Oregon Coast to Tillamook, to visit the factory (and other stuff like Fort Clatsop, etc.) We also visited other old forts in the region. Then, headed to Seattle for a Mariners game before returning to Spokane.

Sculpter of the tree that Lewis Clark signed, when there were exploring what is now called Longbeach.

Kyra's first sorbet. She loved it!

The octopus tree in Oregon. It's a couple hundred years old.

New dog - Ginger Legolas Chambers
Well, we decided to get another dog now, rather than wait for Denali to pass away. That would give Margee a chance to train the dog before she goes back to work in May. So, meet the newest (and funnest for Matthew) member of our family - Ginger. She's a sheppard/retreiver mix. She's 2.5 years old, and loves to play fetch. Matthew is in heaven. Denali is an awesome dog, but not one that like to play.
Legolas comes for a really awesome elf in The Lord of the Rings series. At the moment, Legolas is Matthew's favorite "super hero". Curt and Matthew are reading the series. Matt wanted to name Ginger "Arwen" or "Galadriel", which are two female elves in the series, but they were just too hard to remember or call out. So, it's Ginger, because the dog looks looks like it, and it's one of Matt's favorite spices!
These boots are made for walking
The last weekend in February, Kyra made the official mode switch, from crawling and/or cruising and maybe walking a few steps, to only walking. That meant she got to go shopping for her first pair of walking shoes. That little girl is growing up! The bottom photo is of her taking her first walk around the neighnorhood. Rocks, leaves, flowers, oh there's so much to investigate.
